The technology of Alcohol ether carboxylic acid / carboxylate (AEC) is from the National key project in the Ninth Five Year's Plan by China Research Institute of Daily Chemical Industry. With the general structure of R-(OCH2CH2)nOCH2COONa, AEC is a new type of functional anionic surfactant, whose structure is quite similar to soap. Meanwhile, the inserted EO chains make AEC show characteristics of both anionic and nonionic surfactant, AEC can be used in a wide range of pH value. It not only shows good detergency, emulsifying, dispersion, calcium soap dispersion, foaming, but also performs high resistance to alkali, acid, hard water, high temperature. Besides, the properties of good formulating, non-toxicity, non-irritancy, and biodegradability can be found as well. In addition, the excellent solubilization property makes it suitable for the functional transparent products.
